4 Corners reporter Geoff Thompson has visited the city, which isn't only winning the war on obesity, but setting an example throughout the county.
The largest Loser highlighted one small group of residents, who have been attempting to shed excess kilos by doing vigorous exercise, while on offer the opportunity to change their diet program.
However with support of the Ararat Council, winnings from the show were then accustomed to fund an energetic 8 program to increase an exercise and health regime to other people locally.

What went down next surprised everyone, as the whole community took up the task, with hundreds of residents now wearing pedometers to record their movements every day. And all are paying it forward by helping others to offer the same results.
Thompson said the intervention program results in the rest of the community were surprising, and had groundbreaking implications for government, health officials and the rest of Australia.
He said it showed what might happen when a whole community took control of a problem by helping each other and taking personal responsibility for his or her own health.
Ararat worker Deb Slorach is one of the guinea pigs enlisted within the council's Biggest Loser-inspired meizitang new experiment -- as well as for her, this program has been a "life saver".
Mom of 4, who admits to using tried every diet in the book, said she couldn't bring herself to apply to be on the television show, when you are a part of Active 8 had changed her lifetime.
